I used to have a small bowl of water for my cat which I would only need to fill up every few days as he drank very little. He eventually started butting in to get drinks from the sink when I would wash my hands or brush my teeth. With the Drinkwell watering bowl he drinks a lot more (I fill up the tank about once a week) and doesn't bother me at the sink. :) I'm glad I got the Platinum version for the quiet filter system - it isn't what I'd call "silent" but it's a quiet hum under the trickle of water. Putting it on a towel as the instructions suggest helps with the buzz. If the original version is louder, it would be too much.

Overall great product and worth the price - whatever my significant other might tell me. ;)
